Wood nuthatch is a short-tailed bird with a long bill, blue-grey upperparts and a black eye-stripe, I found in Chindia Park. I like to call it the “climber” because it climbs and descends very easily on the tree trunk.
The nuthatch give a real circus show when it moves up and down the trunk of the trees, going as well upside down, head down or spinning like a twist around the tail. Beautifully colored, with red-brown abdomen, nuthatch are attracted by wooded areas, but also by human settlements surrounded by parks. They make the nests in in tree holes and narrowing the entrance into the nest with a clay threshold. They feed especially on insects and spiders, and in winter with seeds or even nuts, which put in the cracks of the trees and then breaks them.
It is a vocal bird with a repeated loud dwip call. Its song is a slow whistled with many variants.

It is really nice! Thank you for the comment.
Thank you for sharing this blog about the nuthatch bird.
You are very welcome! ?
I like learning new things about birds.
We have two species of nuthatch in the Chicago area, the Red-breasted and the White-breasted. They are both cute.
In my area I have only seen this one, but I know there are two species in Romania, one of them living from altitudes of 1000 m to over 2000 m.
That’s interesting. It never occurred to me that there were more than the two species I knew of.
These little birds are adorable. Great catch.
A lot of beautiful birds. I have not seen her so far
