Sharing a Mockingbird snapped on my deck. Today’s Black & White Friday challenge is the perfect place to share this bird.
The Northern Mockingbird enjoys making its presence known. It usually sits on high fences, eaves, or power lines, and hops along the ground. Found alone or in pairs throughout the year, mockingbirds aggressively chase off intruders on their territory.
These birds mimic sounds of others birds as well as other sounds they hear. I have heard them sound like a police siren and a car alarm. Amazing.
If you have these birds in your yard, they will let you now. Very loud birds that will sound like other birds. And I see these year round in my yard.

Mockingbirds are so cool! We see them (not often) but when we do it is always fun!!!
They really are very intelligent birds. Bullies but still cool to watch and listen to. I hear then all through the night. And they are here year round.
well the likelihood is they are here most of the year as well, just don’t see them very often.
that is so adorable I know have the song Mockinbird in my mind.
I think of the song when I see them as well. 🙂 This one was on my deck privacy fence, lucky to get this shot.
What a lovely capture!
Thanks, this was on my deck privacy fence. It was by accident.
I haven’t seen this bird before. Looks like an interesting bird from the information.
He is rather large and very noisy and intelligent. He can be a bully for the bluebirds.
Very nice picture, although I’m sure the color of the bird is much nicer
The bird is great and white, so not much difference. You can see the color here…

It really doesn’t make much difference … I thought it was more colorful
Their dull colors allow them to blend in for survival perhaps.
Lovely photo you shared
Thank you, I love the birds in the yard.
