Irresistible Fun Food: Nachos

My first two posts in this series about irresistible fun food were Fritters and Empanadas. This post is about Nachos.  If you don’t know what they are let me describe them.  Take a large plate or platter and cover it with crispy corn tortilla chips (store-bought, choose your favorite brand, or do homemade). Cover the chips with melted cheese.  Most people use Velveeta, a popular American brand cheese product, which some people don’t consider “real cheese”.  Whatever!

That’s the simplest recipe for nachos. But most people are not satisfied with just covering chips in melted cheese.  The point is:  nachos must have those two basic ingredients. After that, people get really creative with the other toppings they add.  Ground taco beef, chili, sliced pickled jalapenos, spicy tomato salsa, beans, refried beans, guacamole, sour cream, etc.

What makes nachos an irresistible fun food is that people go crazy coming up with their own nacho recipes and everybody claims that their recipe is the best ever!  Nachos make great party food! Some people really vary the recipe like “Little Irish Potato Nachos” (see tweet below).  That’s not a recipe I would have thought of.  But hey!  I’m not going to judge.  LOL.
