We got a customer to buy our jack fruits. We have kept a few for our own consumption. It was a bumper crop. It is the third day today and I can already smell the jack fruit. We will clean one of them and make packets for future use. They will be frozen. I distributed a few to our neighbours.
When the jack fruit begins to ripen the smell permeates the entire area. So strong is its smell. Cleaning a jack fruit is a laborious process. We have help around.
I will preserve the seeds as well. They have to be washed, dried and buried in sand. Seeds are boiled with salt and the taste is great.

I have never tried a jackfruit. It is good that you got to sell some and that you can freeze them.
That was quite a relief as I have dumped them in the compost pits a few times in the past.
I have never tried jackfruit. Is the smell pleasant or not so much?
It is pleasant but strong. You will get it in Indian stores.
