Have you ever considered having your DNA tested to show where your ancestors came from? The results can be very interesting. My wife and I have had ours tested by three different companies: AncestryDNA, 23 and Me and MyHeritage. Each one has advantages and disadvantages but, if you can only afford one – they’re about $100 unless you can get them sale – I recommend AncestryDNA. They have the largest database and the larger the database, the more accurate the results. If you have concerns over medical issues, you might consider 23 and Me which, in addition to your ancestry, looks at genetic markers for various diseases.

I have always been interested in that, and I got very excited when I learnt about these tests. I am not sure if I can have the test in my country though.
I don’t see why there would be a problem. Basically you just spit in a tube and mail it in.
don’t be surprised to discover you’re related to Ghengis Khan…
My DNA tests showed hat I have roots in he Caucasus so that very well might be.
it is Mongolian, obviously. I think they can differentiate between that entire type and the GK specific markers, though…
Not really interested in it but I now of many who have done it and were surprised.
Have you seen that commercial where the guy thinks he’s German and turns out to be Scottish? My wife, who thought she was 75% German turned out to be not that German but almost half English.
Yes I have seen the commercial, I am sure your wife was glad she took the test.
At least she hadn’t spent her youth learning German folk dances.
I did not tested the DNA
I don’t think I will go for it as I have no curious on my DNA.
Yes, Gary I got my DNA tested. The results were interesting, mostly Southern England East & West. However, my sisters could get their DNA tested and have different results. The reason is because you only have 50% of DNA from each parent.
I got mine done by Ancestry Plus and paid for it 2 years ago. Since then I have had all sorts of people come out of the wood work who also are matched by my DNA.
Also have my family tree on Ancestry as well and I’ve worked out some more on that.
I highly recomend getting your DNA done.
I’m an only child so I have no siblings to compare with but my wife and her sister were also pretty different.
