On Friday evening, at the Metropolitan Cathedral, it held the Lamentations Service. The main ceremony of this day is to remove the Holy Epitaph from the altar and set it on a table in the middle of the church. By removing the Holy Epitaph, we relive the descent of Jesus from the Cross , and the preparation of His Body for the burial.
The Lamentations consist of verses called the “Praises” interspersed with verses of the 118th Psalm, which is divided into three parts. In the Greek practice, the priest chant the Psalm verses, followed by the choir or cantor singing the Praises in a special sweet melody, imbued with an ineffable feeling of sorrow for a son, yet radiantly colored by a sacred love for His Divinity. After Lamentations, the priests and the believers surround the church with the Holy Epitaph. This is a funeral procession.

I find something new every time I visit your posts 🙂
I’m Roman Catholic and we don’t tend to do much on Good Friday or Holy Saturday. Our big liturgy is the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday night.
We celebrated Easter Sunday last week. Love the black and white photo.
