Failures of inattention

You know that feeling, when a little puppy, so gently running but snags and rolls over his head, and we so laugh, such a moment of compassion and aw moment because he is small and silly.

Or when a child accidentally pours out or breaks something and looks at you right away, and before he says “I’m sorry,” you start soothing his heartbeats that take an acceleration – nothing happened, calm down, you didn’t want,  it can happen to everyone.

So, I tried this on myself today. It was needed because I am ham-fisted, and all corners of the world seem to be created for me to snag. Today, all that I failed was “oh, nothing happened”, everything that fell, stumbled, collapsed, all anger was justified and comforted, all failures were beloved. And the day, when you are understanding, gracious, and forgiving to yourself, is a good day.
