I am not a pirate and never seen one so I have no idea. I only met Captain Hook and Jack Sparrow but they were too far from me.

I can see a song sung by a female group of singers that can do a song like “Highwayman” but about the lady pirates that are not that well known in history books or movies.
I’ve actually had a female highwayman stuck in development hell for years. Maybe one day I will work the bugs out and you’ll see it here

I’d go with stolen or robbed. Maybe looted if you go for a more flamboyant terminology…
