Lucky are the makers of cupcakes because it is now the fasion for events. Unlike before when the centerpiece is just the cake, occasions can still be a success even without a cake as long as there are cupcakes that can be shared. In the olden days, the cake would be sliced and given to the guests. But we all know that not all guests can have a slice. With the cupcakes, absolutely everyone can partake for there will be enough.
The cupcake fashion may have been started by the events organizers when they have a wedding or even a birthday. That means aside from the big cake there would be the cupcakes that will serve as the giveaways. It is a cute innovation that people agree when they have a party or gathering which is more practical with cupcakes than just a big cake.

That sounds like a good idea especially if you want to cater for people who have special dietary needs that would not be met by the “big cake”.
