College football is sort of back. Last weekend, the University of Central Arkansas Bears defeated the Austin Peay Governors 24-17. Now, UCA is on the road against the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) Blazers. This game will be a step up in competition since UCA is a FCS (formerly Division 1-AA) team going up against a FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) squad. UAB ended up winning the Conference USA West Division last season, but lost the conference championship game and their bowl game.
The second game of the night is the University of South Alabama (USA) Jaguars going to Hattiesburg, MS to vie against the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. South Alabama is looking to turn things around after a dismal 2-10 season. Southern Miss ended up a game behind UAB in the standings last season. The Golden Eagles are also looking to change their momentum for the better after they lost their bowl game as well.
Here is a quick look at the schedule.
Central Arkansas at UAB – 8 PM EST (ESPN3).
South Alabama at Southern Miss – 9 PM EST (CBS Sports Network).

Army is putting it on Middle Tennessee
Oh snap! It’s now 42-0 – Army is smoking them. Middle Tennessee St forgot to practice this summer
I bet we will see a lot of that because many teams thought the season would be canceled.
Going for UAB, and also USM
I am trying to watch the UAB game as I type this
I’m surprised that Central Arkansas stayed with UAB. I am really shocked that South Alabama smoked Southern Miss. I didn’t know that most of Southern Miss players are all between 5’7″ and 5’11”.
Yeah, I’m sure many were let down by that South Alabama game. I definitely thought Southern Miss would win.
I hope many more teams return soon.
Yes, the SEC, the ACC, and the Big XII begin next week, so you will be able to see Alabama again next weekend. Hopefully, nobody passes out while playing because Penn State released a study earlier today showing that 30 of the Big Ten players that contracted Covid-19 are now suffering from inflammation of the heart – https://sports.yahoo.com/big-ten-covid-19-positive-athletes-one-third-have-myocarditis-penn-state-doctor-164111708.html
UAB has come back strong after shutting down the program just a few years ago.
UAB and southern miss are my picks.
All of the players that were not scooped up by Alabama and Auburn that wanted to stay in state started going to UAB when they started back up. They have not looked back ever since. I picked the same as you although South Alabama is very inconsistent, so if they are on a good run, then they have a chance.
well football is back – i can’t wait for the NFL – and rumor is if things stay stable the BTN may kick off around Thanksgiving!
Yeah, I like how the Big Ten are taking their time because a report was released yesterday showing how Covid-19 affects young players – https://sports.yahoo.com/big-ten-covid-19-positive-athletes-one-third-have-myocarditis-penn-state-doctor-164111708.html
an IU lineman is slowly recovering from the virus, he may not play at all this year or possibly ever again.
