We have a great group of volunteers that make gift baskets for new moms. We believe that every child should be read to and learn to read. That is our whole purpose for the baskets. We see out good books so that when the parents and child leave the the hospital they already have a children’s library to start with.
This book was written by Susanna Leonard Hill, illustrated by Daniel Wiseman and is filled with the drama of the bathtub. It is a quick easy read.
Now, why would you read this to an infant. Children’s brains are continually developing. You are inputting information all the time. There is a cadence and rhythm that is associated with reading and will encourage reading in the future.
Local pediatricians encourage parents to start reading books to the child as soon as they know they are pregnant.

Thank you for sharing this poll. The reason I do not read to children is because I do not have any children but I were given a chance to read to children in a library it would be fun.
I help to run a local public library that has an excellent children’s section. I’m pleased to say that it is well used and that many local parents believe in reading to their children.
