The last Champions League quarterfinals match will be played today between Manchester City and Olympique Lyonnais at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in the bubble in Lisbon, Portugal. Both teams pulled off major wins in the Round of 16. Manchester City eliminated Real Madrid, while Lyon knocked Juventus out of the Round of 16.
Even though both teams pulled off major upsets, they still have a lot to prove today. Lyon must figure out a way to deal with the speed of Manchester City, while Man City must find a way to contain the direct approach of Lyon.
For Manchester City, Sergio Aguero is injured, but Gabriel Jesus is ready once again after scoring a goal against Real Madrid last week. For Lyon, striker Memphis Depay has scored in six straight Champions League matches. Whichever team is able to set up their star attackers the best will win this match.

I can´t believe Lyon has defeated Manchester City, they even defeated Juventus too. Incredible, but this is good for football as money does not mean success. I feel so sorry for Messi, I watched the game. Bayern played really well, I used to watch Bayern when they had Robben and Ribery and I could not expect they are better now. They have a young Canadian player, Davies, that must be the best in his position. Setién is going to be sacked. Poor guy, Valverde must be laughing now. Let’s hope Paris Saint Germain does not win the competition. Bayern deserves it but perhaps Leipzig defeats this filthy club, PSG, owned by filthy millionaires who do not know anything about football or democracy and we see a German final 7 years after. Bayern offered Guardiola to be their eternal manager but he did not want to and he did not reach a Champions League final with Bayern, now a humble manager can make history for Bayern again. I support Bayern this season and Sevilla tonight in the Europa League.
Lyon is very strong up the middle, which is why they can upset teams because they don’t play the new way where everybody attacks from the outside. Barcelona’s management is real bad now. There was a story on AS that Barca did not sign Davies because he is Canadian – https://en.as.com/en/2020/08/15/football/1597522132_354805.html – After what Bayern did to Barca, they should go ahead and win the Champions League, but PSG is really playing with urgency because they know that Neymar and Mbappe will be on different teams next season.
hahaha. One can expect this kind of thing from Bartomeu who has made so many mistakes. I have read it, I did not know AS is also available in English. AS is a good sports newspaper. I love Stoichkov, and he was right, Davies is an outstanding player. So sad. But there are even more funny things because Thiago is a former Barcelona player who was dismissed from Barcelona and was sold cheap and Coutinho scored twice and he still is a Barcelona player. Bartomeu must feel like an idiot now because Thiago grew up at La Massia, Barcelona´s training school. What is more, Davies is not even Canadian in reality as he was born in Ghana and his parents are from Liberia but they emigrated to Canada to escape from war. Bartomeu is so dumb.
Yes, he is dumb and has not been doing the right research. If Real Madrid gets Mbappe as planned, then Barcelona will not be winning this decade.
Lyon pulls off the upset with a 3-1 win over Manchester City.
Lyon is at it again – they are up 1-0 at halftime.
Since Barca lost I am in a state of shock
If you have been watching Bayern over the past couple of months, then you would not have been as surprised. I am surprised by the score though
When it comes to Barca I always expect to be dazzled. The score…? It is lucky I have a licence because I forgot my name.
That is true, but all of their best players are in their 30’s, and they are not developing players any more like they used to fifteen years ago when their academy brought up Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, and Messi
End of an Era… like when Man U plopped… and when Brasil, relying on that Butter Krotches humiliated it self at the World Cup.
i gotta go man u, i will regret it I am sure and I am 0 for the finals so far.
No, you have to win at least one. Depay will be looking for some revenge because he did not play too well when he was at Manchester United where City went at him. He has to prove himself again against an English team.
odds aren’t in my favor but thanks for the encouragement!
Well, you ran the gauntlet on this one. Four days in a row – it’s like you are in Chicago again taking the L
i told you that streak was and has taken hold.
