Barong is our formal native attire

The most common formal attire worldwide is the suit which we call here coat and tie. For formal occasions, the suit is standard here although we have our own formal attire called Barong. During summer, the Barong is the preferred wear for formal occasions while the suit is dominant during the cooler months.

The Barong is made of special fabric and the most expensive is the one that is made from pinya – the fabric made from woven pineapple leaves strands. With the intricate procedure of producing the Barong, it is accepted to be expensive hence it is on the level with the suit.
