When dawn broke, this was the view from my first-floor window (immediately above “SPAT” in the first photo). This is the 17th century Catholic Cathedral of St Mary Himmelfarht, – one of the very few Baroque buildings left in Cologne and clearly a fortunate escapee from wartime bombing.
