The release version is so dark that you can’t see all the detail the piece has. I don’t mind sacrificing it for drama, even though it is a shame… At any rate, you can see more of it in the rough sketch

I like the illumination on this one. And the darkness highlights the face even more.
Contrast is key; want to make something bright? Add light to it. Want to make it even brighter? Make everything around it darker…
