This was a rare sighting even in Tiritiri. You mainly hear them not see them and they jump from tree top to tree top. Definetly endangered.

This Kokako is rarely seen most of the time on Tiritiri Matangi Island, thanks Elenka. Its endangered and sings beautifully. I was extremely lucky to see it at all.
I have heard their song before but had never seen one!
