When you think “botanical garden”, the desert environment doesn’t immediately pop into your brain. However, the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona may just change your mind. We visited it in November when the Arizona temperatures were mild, but the weather was significantly warmer than Colorado. I was surprised by the vast amount of colors that we found throughout the gardens. When I think “desert”, I envision a barren landscape, but the exhibits in the Desert Botanical Garden are anything but beautiful. There was such a wide variety of cactus and succulents that it was difficult for my eyes to take it all in. Overall, it was a wonderful visit, and we left wishing that we had more time to explore.

Palo Verde
I'm not sure whether this is a Foothill Palo Verde or Blue Palo Verde tree, but they are the state tree of Arizona.
