Here we are at Knob Creek Farm in Kentucky where Abraham Lincoln lived for 5 years until he was 7 and their family had to move away. This apple tree was huge and very old and recently had to be cut down behind the log cabin where the Lincoln’s lived. I like to think that it was about 190 years old and was there at the time Abraham Lincoln was. Apple trees are very tough and slow growing and this one hung on even though it only had life left on the outer rim and was hollow in the center.
Looks like it was time for a long rest.
I think I’d like to visit Knob Creek Farm. I’m interested in Lincoln’s life and it would be neat to see something that was there when he was.
