I find ballads interesting. Most of them record something that didn’t turn out well, and still there is something about it that lights the imagination. I listened to this one by Harry Chapin a lot. As an adult I wonder why, and still I listen to the whole thing.
When I was in 5th grade we were given an assignment to memorize a poem and present it with a background of some kind of music or sound track. So I chose the one below and just like the video, I when outside and recorded the blowing winds of Montana. Mine was not nearly as professional, and still I memorized every single word.
I have forgotten many things over the years, and this is not one of them. I can still recite it word for word. I still really like the odd story. I guess it’s mine to carry.

I would sure like to hear you recite that! I memorized the first 30 lines of the Iliad once, but it sure did not stay with me for long. I was never any good at memorization, which used to annoy my teachers.
It takes me a long time to memorize, but once I get it, it’s stuck!
