There was another great boat at the Glenn Curtiss Museum in Hammondsport in the Fingerlakes. This was a Gar Wood Mahogany speedboat. It was 33 feet long and made in 1927 and was an in-board runabout. It was powered by a huge V12 Liberty engine with 500 hp that could propel the boat to 60 mph. It commonly ran on Keuka Lake nearby. It was also called “Baby Gar 55” because it was guaranteed to go 55 mph.
Lovely shot you got of this boat Jess!
Nice!
