Houston Astros are the 2017 World Series champions

The 2017 World Series came to an end on Wednesday on November 1st which is also All Saints Day with the Houston Astros ending their 56 year drought on not winning a World Series title since they joined the National League as an expansion team with the team nickname the Colt 45s.

The Astros have been through great seasons making it to the World Series in the 2005 Major League Baseball season to the World Series representing the National League before losing to the Chicago White Sox in four games in a best of series format.

In a story that reminds a lot of us of the saying “It is not how you start, but how you finish.” The 2017 Houston Astros won the American League West Division, went on to beat the Boston Red Sox who were the American League East Division Champions in five games in the American League Divisional Playoffs and beating the New York Yankees in seven games in the bets of seven series format in the American League Championship Series.

When the 2017 World Series came around, the Los Angeles Dodgers who had the best regular season record in the 2017 Major League Baseball with a record of 104 wins and 58 losses were the favorites to win the series.

However the Astros were on a mission to win their first World Series for their fans who were being challenged by the effects of Hurricane Harvey that struck the Southeastern Texas area in late August.

What made me laugh that the sports reporters on television had given the Astros no chance to win their first World Series in their history since their record playing games on the road was not as impressive as their home field advantage record.

Thanks to the hitting power of Astros outfielder George Springer who was named the World Series Most Valuable Player with his five home runs during the postseason which ties him with former Major League Baseball outfielder Reggie Jackson and Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Chase Utley.

The Astros now will face the challenge of facing baseball teams in the 2018 Major League Baseball season who will want to win their World Series title by beating the defending World Series champions.

My belief is that the Astros are a young team that will be contending for World Series titles for many year to come since they have lineup of veteran players and young players on their roster.

What this Houston Astros team so special was they believed in themselves with many of their detractors did not give them a chance.
