Belarus Premier League 2020 Week 8 Friday highlights

The Belarus Premier League did not disappoint on Friday with two quality matches.  The first game of the doubleheader was a barn burner between Slutsk and Energetyk-BGU.  Energetyk-BGU proved to be more energetic on the road by jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first half.  Both goals were scored on penalty kicks.  The first penalty kick happened at the 17th minute when a Slutsk defender clipped an Energetyk player in the box.

The second penalty kick occurred in the 28th minute when a defender pushed an Energetyk player while he was up in the air attempting to head a cross into the goal.  Both penalty kicks were scored by Jasur Yaxshiboev, who leads the Belarus Premier League in goals with six goals.  However, Slutsk made it 2-1 on a goal by Umar Bala off of a cross in the 41st minute.  Nevertheless, Energetyk held on in the second half to win 2-1 even after being down one man due to a red card for the last 20 minutes.  Slutsk remains in first place for the time being, but Energetyk currently moves up to second place with the win.

The second match turned out to be a 1-1 tie between Gorodeya and FC Minsk in a all-Minsk derby.  Both goals were scored in the first half.  With the draw, both teams remain in the middle of the pack in the Belarus Premier League.

#1 Slutsk – Energetyk-BGU highlights

I only put the highlights of the first match up because the second match ended in a draw.  Slutsk are in the blue jerseys and Energetyk-BGU are in the cool purple and orange jerseys.  The highlights are in Russian.  Slutsk played pretty bad defense in the first half.  Both penalties were legitimate.  The red card in the second half was also a good call.
