Yellow Tulips

Yellow Tulips (2018-05-07 13-15-17a)

The photo was taken in a garden in Chicago, Illinois.

I used a Google Pixl 2 XL smartphone to take the photo and edited it using Luminar 2018. I used the RAW Develop to raise the contrast, shadows and clarity settings and the Tone filter to lower the SmartTone. I also added the Accent-AI, Structure and Denoise filters.

I am amazed at how well smartphones do these days. I’m currently using a Google Pixel 2 XL whose camera is highly rated. It can even shoot RAW. Even before I got it, my Motorola smartphone produced excellent results. You can check out a macro of a fly that I have posted here. I have no plans to abandon my camera anytime soon. Smartphones have very small sensors and, except for a couple introduced very recently, one aperture. Despite these limitations, smartphones are being used to shoot magazine covers and even television commercials.
