The grandsons are out of school for the summer. Now begins the season of more frequent early morning calls. Today it was the youngest one.

“Remember when you said you planted a seed and you hope it sprouts. What does that mean?” There was a little pause, “Oh and good morning.”

“Good morning to you! It means that some seeds just don’t grow. Maybe they don’t get enough nutrition, water, or sunlight and they can’t grow, so it remains a seed that doesn’t grow.” When a begins to grow it sprouts. It opens up and grows.”

“Oh, kind of like the way you plant ideas in our heads.”

I couldn’t help it, I started to laugh.  “What ideas do you think I plant in your head?”

“Way, way, way more than I could every count. I am going to find some cereal. Love you today, tomorrow forever and always. Bye.”

He warms my heart.
