Nature Tuesday Challenge – Natural life at Weymouth

Weymouth, a place by the Manukau Harbour in South Auckland is full of life. Natural life.

You see how there are different birds and one cat. There are other things I cant show you. The fish in the Manukau Harbour, small crabs, and shrimps.

Each of these eat different things and the ecology of it is worlds within worlds. All belong here, and fit in with each other.

Now I know today is Tuesday in other parts of the world but on Tuesday, it is actually Weds in New Zealand. We are first on the time line.

Royal Spoonbill

A bird as large as a Heron but equiped with a spoon on the end of the beak. It looks like it's vacuuming the Manukau Mud flats when it is on the edge of the water.

I have no idea what it eats,

    • Thanks History Gal, I have seen them by the edge of the water in the mud flats. They move their beaks up and down in the mud much like a vacuum cleaner. I would assume they suck up food through their long beak and eat living organisms that we cant see.

Ducks

There are often Ducks at Weymouth Beach

    • Thanks HistoryGal, nature is not always kind to female birds. However, note, that the bird species survive when both male and female pool their resources and help each other,
