These are very recent photos of Black Swans in Puketutu Island. Puketutu Island is next to Mangere Sewage works and the filtered water goes into a lagoon and travels into various places. Now the water is clean and clear and scientists from over the world come and visit these works. It wasn’t always the case.
In the hot summer and rapid humidity some of the birds can die. We keep pressing people not to feed the birds as the food will go stale in the water which causes the birds to get botulism . It’s a horrible way for the bird to die. Bird rescue does manage to save some of them and that hopefully will decrease if people take notice or get education about birds.
So many gorgeous pictures!
Thanks Ellie for your kind comments
