Yes, that’s a Painted Turtle!

While riding passenger one day with X2, as I now refer to her, we came across this old turtle cowering in traffic. I can’t say that I have ever seen a painted turtle this large, but a few that were close. In this area turtles of all species are very common, with snappers that could bite off a foot. Mostly I posted this picture just to ask if anyone else had seen them this large, or is this an evolutionary trait? That is a Chevy Trailblazer console it is sitting on, the rest is self explanatory.
