I took the train to the city where Kelly was now located. I saw the building.
I decided to relax a few minutes before seeing him and turned to the restaurant across the street. That is when I saw Kelly, a few feet from the restaurant door, and called his name.
He turned to look at me, and I smiled, but he didn’t return it.
“Why are you here?” he asked in a rough voice.
“We need to talk.” I said sweetly.
“No, Evie, we don’t. Not now.”
