Swallow nest

Castle ” Swallow nest” is located in the Crimea, the Aurora cliff, 40 meters above the Black Sea. It was designed by Russian architect Leonid Sherwood for German businessman Baron von Štajngela. According to local lore, a German businessman had visited this place during his honeymoon. Then there stood a small house made of wood, and he is to himself and his wife wished this romantic castle. It was built between 1911 and 1912. Preserved all the elements of a solid building, which in 1927 suffered an earthquake.

  1. All I can say is this is absolutely and gloriously a stupendous location for a very beautiful architectural feat. As much I would like to go up and visit it, I would be unable to look down the cliff as I am deadly afraid of heights but maybe from inside the castle with a window pane in front of me and no earthquake shaking the earth… well I just might. This castle is also very different from the traditional castles that I have seen here on Virily and elsewhere as it is all whitewashed. It is absolutely gorgeous…
