I know I am going to catch hell for this and I still have to say it. I am grateful that I live in the middle of nowhere and don’t have to deal with many people.
Park City is the closest “town” to where I live that has any real population and commerce. I do not agree with 99.9% of all the protesting going on. I see no reason to destroy property. If you think a statue, then show everyone the statue and keep reminding them what you think the problem is. Reasonable people will listen and learn, adults who never grew up will destroy it.
In Park City, with no permit, some adults painted a very large mural in the street that said, Black Lives Matter. A group of teenagers went and painted over the black so it couldn’t be seen. It now reads “Lives Matter”.
You guessed it. They are prosecuting the teenagers, not the original adults that painted with no permit. Now if they want to prosecute both for no permit, have at it. The adults are “allowed” to express their opinion ~ not the children.
You would be hard-pressed to find 10 black people within a 30 miles radius of Park City. There are 43,209 who identify themselves as black in the entire sate. What is the matter with lives matter? That is all-inclusive.
I donated to help the teenagers get representation.
I just think it is so unfair, and maybe that is a lesson in itself.
There is nothing wrong with All Lives Matter. It is however not a fair response to the more specific cultural bias issues.
African Americans, Latino Americans and Asian Americans have suffered unfair and undue discrimination in the US. So when they say BLM, LLM, and ALM it should not to answers with ALM.
In the words of Bubba Wallace in the face of hate, love always wins.
I hope so, but I am not so certain any longer.
I am not sure the other issues are valid and real. Perhaps because I am native I don’t find destruction and rioting as any kind of solution.
Langston Hughes (the poet) once wrote when you have nothing, then there is no value in things. It is only when you have things that there is a value in them.
I don’t think destruction of property is a good thing.
Good for you and I think that is a great mural. We have quite a few people around here of all cultures and my favorite time is when I can just stay in my apartment and no have to go out at all. So quiet and peaceful and then other times I do want to get outside at least to see nature.
I was taught to live in a color-blind world
Good for you and your donation. Made going on in the world.
