A Letter to Enter Priesthood Is Not Easy to Decide

It is a practice that prior to graduating high school. There are random university schools’ representatives to visit the secondary level schools. The main goal is to encourage the graduating students to enroll in their respective universities. I wasn’t that so excited during that time and the immaturity is what appeared to be considering my young age. It lingers in my mind what’s really my calling that time. I am definitely figuring out what’s the future hold for me.

Among all the visitors, a team of the priest came in our school. I never expected that this would be interesting for me. When I was in high school, I am a bit, mischievous young teenage boy. It was all for fun and not too serious in anything. Because of my childish act, I was talking with a classmate of mine and not listening to the priest introducing the life in seminary for the priest. The priest caught his attention with my behavior and all of a sudden, he got my complete name. It wasn’t a big deal since I thought the will tell the head teacher of my behavior.

After a week since the team of the priest came, I had received a letter from them. I got puzzled how they got my postal address. The content of the letter is simply inviting me to offer my life to God and be a religious missionary priest. As I was reading the letter, the questions rushed through my mind. The content of the answered the possible questions in entering the priesthood. He said I was a young boy with full of talents and strength. “Why don’t I offer myself to God and to his children?” The content of the letter is so encouraging. It continues to say. “Be generous with God, don’t mind so much yourself, your family, your girls. But look for the kingdom of God and how to please him.”

I was considering the offer to become a religious missionary priest. But then, I can’t leave my hopes and dream for my family. I never replied them back and continued to practice the shared chapter and verses from the Holy Bible. “There is no one who has left house, brothers, sisters, father, children or land for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not be repaid a hundred times over in this present life, not without persecutions and the world to come eternal life.” (Mark 10:29-30).

I can still be the son of God and be a better person to others with the help of his words from the Holy Bible. I can still serve him and be where I am right now. I can sacrifice for the sake of others and even leaving them temporarily. There will always be a reward for every sacrifice in life.
