Sometimes Music, Watching Television Can Become Not So interesting

I am writing this post to educate people about the lonely. I for one like my time alone to write, cook etc, but for many they feel the opposite.

I know someone that has been too alone for a lot of his life.  Now, he does have people that love him, but they can’t devote 100% of their time to him. He needs many things to help him feel comforted.

Sometimes he doesn’t have the desire to play his once loved music, or watch his favorite TV shows. He needs someone to watch them with these days. Doing these things for so long alone has caused an ill effect on him.

What might help this type of person?

  1. Basically making him list something he would try and do on a periodic basis.

Maybe a simple, “watch 15 minutes of TV 3 times a week” or whatever small things he used to enjoy (or something he won’t mind trying) – if he need help doing, try getting someone accompanying him.

Thoughts, actions and mood are interlinked – so making a change in one can help in improving the other 2.

But of course these are just theories I’ve heard … not sure they’ll really work, but worth a try.

    • Well, that would not work, because this person has issues too concerning to have him meet others on the internet, believe me. Thank you for the suggestion though. Maybe one day!

      • the site is about look for local activities in your area, signing up for local activities, and meeting in real life at places. it is like group social activities.

  2. Therapy sounds like a good option. Or, someone who can spend a little time with him doing the things he used to enjoy. Maybe he will gradually get back to doing these things alone. There is nothing wrong with being alone as long as you are mentally ok with it. My opinion, my experience. You can drop to depression quickly spending time alone, you have to know where the line is to say enough is enough alone. Not an easy solution and everybody is so different. What works for me may not work for you or someone else. One step at a time is all you can do.
