Sarah and I

I lost my daughter twelve years ago. She was autistic and schizophrenic.  An odd combination to deal with at such a young age. Currently I am reading a book called Harmony by Carolyn Parkhurst. I am halfway through the book and have been thinking about my daughter.

Sarah was not as severe as the character in the book, but she had the same sense of humor.  She understood more than most children her age. She was bright and very perceptive. She was absolutely beautiful and everyone loved her.

In this photo we were attending a tea party with the Girls Social Group. The group provided a normal function for the girls to meet and have fun outside of school. She was in Girl Scouts and took Tae Kwan Do classes once a week. She was doing really well, until her latest episode landed her in the hospital, which lead to her death.
