Decorating Ideas that Really Bring the Christmas Tree to Life

If you are one of those people who really get into the Christmas spirit and love decorating your hearth and home for the holiday season, you probably already have your go-to look. For those of you who have not yet found your signature style or are considering switching things up a bit this holiday season, you may want to consider some of these ideas to really bring your Christmas tree to life.

When looking for decorations that really bring the Christmas tree to life, remember, it is your Christmas tree, so do whatever you think looks good. Feel free to mix and match ideas or use these ideas as a springboard to create your own unique look. Whatever style you go for spruce up your holiday decor this season with a wide selection of Christmas ornaments that Decorator’s Warehouse has to offer.

Choose a Unique Color Scheme

While red and green ornaments, garlands, and tinsel are the traditional holiday fare, there is no rule that says you cannot use a different color scheme for your Christmas tree or for your other Christmas decorations for that matter. Go all white for a wintery statement, or add in silver ornaments for a little variety. Another option is to use one or more of your favorite colors, even if they are not traditional Christmas colors. For example, you could deck out a mini hot pink Christmas tree with black ornaments and garland to add a pop of color somewhere in your house.

While you may not want your main Christmas tree to be that bright and nontraditional, you could use smaller accent trees in other rooms of your home. The sky is the limit when coming up with your own unique color scheme, and you are really only limited by your own imagination, so get creative this Christmas.

Make a Themed Christmas Tree

Another option for making your Christmas tree really pop is to come up with a theme and decorate your tree with ornaments, decorations, and garland that fall under that theme. Your imagination is also the only thing limiting the theme you come up with for your tree, so go ahead and come up with a great theme that shows off your personality and the things that you like. You could create a candy-themed tree complete with candy ornaments and candy garland, along with multicolored Christmas lights. You could even use real candies as decorations; however, if you live in an area prone to ants and other bugs, you may want to keep the real candy in sealed containers and stick with ornaments for your tree.

An all-natural Christmas tree with leaves, flowers, pinecones, and other natural decorations is another option if you are more of a naturalist. You could also base your theme on your favorite television or movie character, sports team, or musical group, if entertainment is an important part of your life.

Pick All One Type of Ornament

Since you have most likely been given ornaments as gifts over the years, your tree is likely a mélange of styles, including classic ball-shaped ornaments, figurines, and perhaps even a handmade ornament or two. To give new life to your Christmas decor, consider just using one style of ornament, such as ball ornaments or figurine-style ornaments. You could take this idea one step further by adding a theme or color scheme so that you are using only a certain type of ornament that fits into your theme. For example, you could use all ball-shaped vintage Christmas ornaments or all figurine-style sea life-themed ornaments.

Add Memories to Your Christmas Tree

You may already have a couple of handmade ornaments on your tree courtesy of your little ones. If you like to look at your Christmas tree and think of all of the fond memories from years past these ornaments bring, consider adding to your collection of handmade ornaments each year so you can have more and more memories in future years. To make the memories even more vivid, consider capturing photos during the holiday season and incorporating these photos into future ornaments.

  1. You are so right your Christmas tree should be how you like to decorate it. My sister had one that had a Disney theme when her kids were younger. I like the tree with all kinds of colored lights, but I also have an outside tree that goes all natural. I also like the winter look in silver and white.
