Pineapple. This is one of my favorite fruits. This picture was taken in one of the provinces in Phuket. In Thailand it is called saparot, Philippines = pinya, Lithuania = ananasai, Indonesia = nanas, Latvia = ananāsi, Vietnam = Trái dứa, now matter what and how we call it this is a very flavorful, juicy and nutricious fruit. It grows all year round. It is best to plant this to sandy seacoast soil. (No wonder Hawaii has the best pineapples.)
It can be made as desserts, drinks or even in some special dishes. Yummy!
Care to have a slice of this wonderful fruit?
The picture is fantastic.
I love pineapple, but I am not very good at picking the right one.
Always choose the yellow or yellow orange ones, not the greens.
I love pineapple and would love to have a bush here, but I don’t think it would grow well in the soil here.
yes, it may grow to sandy places, Karen.
yes, I have to get down from a motorbike and walk a few meters back to take a photo of this along the road. lol.. plus at the heat of the raging sun lol 🙂
I love these pineapples so it’s fine. I love seeing them just along the road but not a busy road. usually a road for drying rice.
Pineapple is my favorite fruit. I doubt pineapple would grow in my land.
why not give it a try. sometimes they just use the end part of the pineapple to replant. how cool is that.
I love pineapple too, dear friend …. it just happens that I don’t have it in the fridge …
yes, it is so refreshing. If I can not eat it, i just put it in the water, mash and drink. or blender is the best.
i adore pineapple, the one’s we get in the Eastern US are average to bad. But the ones in Thailand, still are my all time favorite!
have you experienced buying fruits from the cart vendors. Those are the bests until now.
i did every day when I lived in Thailand – plus sticky rice and noodles!!!
so have you experienced eating with the sticks? do you still remember the taste of sticky rice and ripe mango?
i have been back to Thailand twice and Malaysia three times since leaving the first time.
the first things i eat in season pineapple and mango.
I miss the taste of fresh mango. Int he US ours has to be picked so green to still be good when it arrives.
When did you visit Thailand?
late 1971 to early 1973 we lived there.
2002 my kids, wife and I went.
2005 i went on my own.
more or less it is still the same now.
I have a pineapple plant that I just harvested. It is only one plant for a novelty.
good for you. I always wanted to plant.
