This is my recipe for quick and easy homemade baked beans. My grandmother would sort, soak, boil and prepare the great northern beans from our garden and it took quite some time. I came up with a recipe that tastes just as delicious but without the sorting and soaking.
I start with two cans of great northern beans and pour in a baking dish, liquid and all. Next sprinkle the top with brown sugar and molasses, stirring into the beans.
I’m a bacon lover so I put a layer of uncooked bacon on top of the beans and baked at 350 degrees for about a hour. Some ovens vary so I suggest checking after 45 minutes.
This is such a quick and easy recipe and so delicious, just like my grandmother made why back when I was a young child.
