I grew up listening to Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s song and her songs are still alive; never fading out of fashion.
We are back again to South Africa.
Yvonne Chaka Chaka (her original name Yvonne Machaka) was born in 1965. She is a singer, actress, song writer, humanitarian, teacher and entrepreneur.
She is known as the princess of Africa die to her music. She is mostly popularly known in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe and Gabon.
The above song is titled ‘Mamaland.’ Mama is a Kiswahili word meaning ‘mother.’ She is asking why do people want to forcefully drive her out of her homeland (Africa) and asks African leaders yo unite and stop dividing people or fight for power. Instead they should work together.
Experience this South African song and the dance style (Zulu’s dancing style).
Good song. This is the first time I read about this artist
Her music is mostly known in Africa. Glad you liked the song.
I had just heard of her last week when she was deported out of Uganda. President Museveni is in fear of losing his position.
Yes, I read the news. Being a dictator he knows he might be over thrown. Her valuable things were stolen especially the laptop.
Beautiful post, Introvert <3 🙂 We all have ties to our homeland <3
Thank you, Windy. Yes, we all have ties to our homeland one way or another.
i have never heard this artist, Thank you! I love hearing music from around the world!
She is not well-known internationally. She was famous in the 80s and 90s.
I too like hearing songs even in foreign languages. The diversity makes it interesting.
i think that is always hard the regional nature of music sometimes.
True, in some cases it is very hard. Some might cause mixed feelings.
it can be very hard. i don’t listen to popular music anymore. So it really doesn’t bother me.
I love what I love.
