Movie Review: Iron Sky, 2012

Brilliant film. Before watching, you absolutely do not expect what you will see later in the film. In this film, at first glance, a comedy genre, in fact, can be found dramatic features. It has a deep meaning, the main idea of the film is that war is the suicide of humanity.

Also, the film makes fun of the American government, it is a brilliant satire of modern times – one might even say so. Change names, flags, emblems – and you will see that the film shows the real situation in the world, starting from the end of the Second World War.

I repeat, but this is a brilliant film, to be honest, I did not expect such an amazing effect from watching this film, such high feelings… this tragic note at the end of the movie about loneliness, a hint that wars can lead to the death of our entire planet.

This film is a dove of peace and a reminder of the fragile world that we call Planet Earth!

Finnish films have always been distinguished by a kind of humor and irony that could become direct sarcasm and ridicule when it came to politics and globalism under the American sauce.

In the film, there are two forces: the moon Nazis – naive, pretentious and ridiculous ones who were stuck in the 1940s, in the era of dieselpunk and totalitarianism. And the American administration, headed by a female president, is like all women, self-satisfied, self-confident and self-loving.

The plot of the film – the dream of any geek. According to the director’s version, the fascists did not disappear as a species but were even able to accumulate strength in order to return to Earth again and subdue it rigidly and unconditionally. But as it was expected, it was not easy to do for the heirs of Hitler because first of all, they need to cope with internal differences, which is not so easy to do.

So, the plot of the film is based on the theory that Nazi scientists at their secret bases in Antarctica were able to create capable flying saucers and left our planet, moving to the moon along with the best representatives of German society. Years passed, but the so-called Fourth Reich did not intend to abandon the ideas of his Fuhrer and cherished hope for world domination, creating a retaliatory weapon for his new leader, Wolfgang Kortzfleisch (Udo Kier).

However, the lunar possibilities were not as wide as the earthly and scientists of the Reich are simply not able to lift their apparatus into space due to the lack of a powerful computer. And then, like a gift of fate, they are caught by American astronaut James Washington (Christopher Kirby), who arrived on Earth’s satellite for the purposes of an advertising campaign of the US President (Stephanie Paul).

After watching Iron Sky, a very pleasant cheerful mood remains, and, at the same time, a slight thoughtfulness over the problems that the authors touched on in the movie.
