Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890)

The formative period in the art of Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) started learning painting in The Hague, during which mainly represented the life of the peasants, their portraits and people in the business. These images of earth colors and brown palette, as well as the depressive atmosphere that sought to convey to the observer jad painted, were totally different from his later style. And they went to Paris, the center of artistic events, Van Gogh met with the art of the Impressionists and pointillists and began to experiment with the use of light and color.

Images from the Paris period are completely different from the previous stage eclipses. They clarified prevailing impressionistic palette, which Van Gogh beyond in their liberation struggles, as well as the brush strokes that are visible on the screen. Also, here he met many painters: Toulouse-Lautrec, Bernard, Signac, Sera, Gauguin. But in Paris Van Gogh collapse of absinthe, lack of sleep, poor nutrition and tobacco, and in 1888 he moved to Arles in the south of France, in order to recover mentally and physically.

About Van Gogh most can learn from the letters devoted brother Theo, who offer a rare insight into his thinking. Shortly after his arrival in Arles, wrote that the south is extremely inspiring and how they feel calmer and more satisfied. Often the letters spoke of colors, their effects and mutual agreement, and Arles are precisely those very influenced Van Gogh’s creations, such as yellow, which becomes dominant on his palette under the influence of the southern sun. It is obvious that in the areas around Arla found a huge source of inspiration. As for the present work, I feel lucidity and blindness man in love. Because this environment fight for me something new and makes me incredibly excited. Van Gogh’s paintings rarely appreciated and wanted to buy – in his time were considered too extravagant and free.

Therefore, most of his life serving his brother Theo, which made her feel very bad, and he was sending almost all the canvases and drawings that painted. A production was enormous. However, it was often lonely and hoped to be able to gather several artists together to create and aided each other. Among the few friends he gained in Arles and among the few who wanted to pose for him was the postman Joseph Rulen.
