This year in Belgrade was a large reconstruction.Buildings, streets, and squares are being rebuilt.Belgrade is one big construction site since the beginning of spring.Deputy Mayor Mr. Goran Vesic promised that reconstruction of the Republic Square would take 420 days, and then construction of roads would be started, causing traffic blocked from time..All deadlines breached, of course.Opposition made requests to stop work. They did not aim to see whether Belgrade would look nicer after reconstruction but to get voter points before the next election. Finally, on September 1.2019, a road for cars, buses, and trolleybuses opened.Citizens were given more space, benches to place and tree to plant. A total of 53 Maple trees planted.I went to town yesterday and visited the place.Unlike many, I like the new look.It will be even nicer when all the trees planted when they grow and green. In the photos next to the layout of the new square, you can see the monument to Prince Mihajlo Obrenovic. I will write a special story about it.Behind the monument is the building of the National Museum in Belgrade. This year there was a large construction site.Buildings, streets, and squares are being rebuilt.Belgrade is one big construction site since the beginning of spring.Deputy Mayor Mr. Goran Vesic promised that the Republic Square would take 420 days, and then construction of roads would be started, causing traffic blocked from time to time. All deadlines breached, of course. They made requests to stop work. They did not aim to see whether Belgrade would look nicer after reconstruction but to get voter points before the next election. Finally, on September 1.2019, a road for cars, buses, and trolleybuses.Citizens were given more space, benches to place and tree to plant. What a great set of pictures Robin – thanks for sharing more of your city! Belgrade is a place I have never been and would love to visit someday!
Thank you very much Doc.
You are welcome in Belgrade.
Nice to hear about renovations. The trees will make a difference.
Yes it will definitely be nicer. Thank you, Carol.
Good there is a plan to plant trees but here they have plants to cut down 2700 tress in the name of development. There is heavy opposition but the ruling party no one can fight
Thanks for the comment.I think there will be no problem in Belgrade.
