This photo isn’t intended to be a pretty picture as much as a historical record. It is a ghost sign for the Orlandi Statuary. The building is located at 1801 North Central Park Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. The photo was taken from The 606, a walking trail on what was a railroad right of way.
The Orlandi Statuary was started by Egisto Orlandi who came to Chicago from Lucca, Italy in 1911. It has expanded its product line over the years but is still located at this building. I don’t know for certain that Orlandi set up shop here or whether the company moved here at a later date. I also don’t know the age of the ghost sign.
I took the photo with a Nikon Coolpix P7700 camera and used ACDSee Ultimate 10.4 to adjust the lighting, boost the contrast and sharpen a bit.

Hi Gary – nice to see you here. I just joined. Great photo.
Thanks
Love it Gary! What do you use to take your photos?
These days it’s a Nikon Coolpix P7700. Before I got that, and sometimes since, a Panasonic DMC-FZ50. Both are discontinued models.
WOW this is a very cool photo Gary!
Thanks, Carol. I got hooked on ghost signs a few years ago. Fortunately Chicago has a lot of them.
That would be so interesting to drive around and just take photos.
I have never seen them anywhere except in movies!
