Mehmed Mesa Selimovic

On this day in 1910 was born writer Mehmed Mesa Selimovic, a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts / SANU / and one of the greatest Serbian and Yugoslav writers of the 20th century. The writer’s “Death and the Dervish” – one of the greatest novels of domestic and world literature. Selimovic was born in Tuzla, was a partisan and later a prominent writer. Listed among the 100 most prominent Serbs. He has received numerous awards, the most important being: NIN Award, “Goran Award”, “Njegoš prize” Dvadesetsedmojulska awards SR BiH, this award AVNOJ.

His life’s work is stylistically flawless novel “The Dervish and Death”, in which he wove the tragedy of the brother who died after the war because of the banal reason, although he was a fighter.
