When Faight di tawk lite yu pipe
This is a saying used very often when someone is pontificating. It can be translated; “When a Fool Talks light your Pipe.”
This simply means, you ignore what the speaker says.
Most often the expression is uttered sotto voce, possibly while lighting a pipe (or a cigarette) and looking distracted.

It is said and done in such a way that the person speaking does not hear it, but those around him or her, hear what is said.
Some will walk off, some will take the diatribe with humour, others may act impressed and ask all sorts of questions, to extract more humor.
It is a way to avoid arguments. One hears what they disagree with, and not bothering to correct or engage, simply sits back and lets the talking become ‘white noise’.
