Golubacka fortress

The fortress are the Djerdap National Park, on the right bank of the Danube, 4 km downstream from the present village. It is situated on high cliffs, at the point where the river narrows at the entrance to the Iron Gate. Makes it a total of 10 towers and two large school gate. In front of the fortress was a civil settlement, which today testify only partially explored some facilities. Based on the historical, architectural and archaeological data it is considered that the town was founded in the second half of the 13th and early 14th century and were built by the Serbs.
