365 Day Photo Challenge: Day 54: Fruit on a Windowsill

I liked the texture and light of the fruits against  a gray winter background. I believe the fruit and vegetables have an interesting character of their own when they are exposed outside of the standard peripherals of a kitchen environment.

Again, it is all about light and how the light paints each subject. The more I see and realize the quality of light, the more anxious I am to find it where ever it appears. These images are all late in the afternoon or early in the morning when the quality of outdoor light is at its best.

  1. Fruits and vegetables are one of my favorite photographic subjects. It gets me some very strange looks in the grocery store, however.

We’ve started buying from a a place called Imperfect Produce. You can get a large box of fruits and vegetables for $20, based on availability. However, you get the stuff the stores reject because it doesn’t look absolutely perfect. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with it, however. IMO, it has more “character” and makes a better subject.

      • So far it is a little slow, I am sure the weather has a lot to do with it. From cold to rain, and lots of rain, flood warnings, cannot get outside. The weather is like a roller coaster right now. But I know spring is on its way and that is always a mood lifter. Hope things are ok with you.
