I woke up at 9am, after a crazy night hyperventilating. I get nervous sometimes, and my breathing suddenly gets messed up. So, I have to slow down, focus on something, relax, and maybe do exercises to tense bodily muscles. In the morning, I felt better, even though I took a pill to relaxing, even though I am not into drugs and I prefer to do things naturally.
Then, I went on Instagram, and I noticed that statistics from the latest UC Irvine 2019 commencement ceremony. There was a total of 10, 631 students graduating this year.
Biological Sciences comprised 1,087 graduating students
Social Ecology comprised 1,309
Engineering Science comprised 954
School of Medicine comprised 115
Graduate School, PHD, and MFA comprised 331
School of Humanities comprised 661
Social Sciences comprised 2,686
School of Law comprised 142
Arts, Education, and Physical Sciences comprised 1,253
Nursing Science, Public Health, Pharmaceutical Sciences comprised 860
Informational Computer Sciences comprised 996
School of Business comprised 287
I was surprised that UCI has grown immensely since I graduated in 1987, and the most popular major is still Social Sciences. During the 80s, UC Irvine campus was very small, with mostly the main school building and a tiny Student Center. And, the campus design was organized around a center ring, in the center park area, which refers to Lord of the Rings. Actually, one of the dorm community on campus is Middle Earth. But I lived at the other dorm community, Mesa Court. I majored in Social Sciences because there weren’t many options back then. But I knew I always enjoyed reading about Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, and sometimes Economics. I picked electives in the areas of Art and Mass Communications because they were mostly hobbies.
I added a snapshot of the famous Target Dog, wearing his blue Eaters jersey and promoting the UC Irvine Anteater campus inside the small college edition Target, located by UCI.
This is really good news
