Freelance Writing as a Business

Oftentimes I hear people asking how do you do this or that as a freelancer…

I think what it really comes down to is keeping really good records. This is something I’ve had to learn over the years. You’re never going to be able to trust all of your clients. It’s up to you to show them who you are and what you do for them. This doesn’t have to be difficult but it does have to be done.

Take some time to find a record keeping system that works for you then make use of it each and every moment of your day… Write an article? List it on a spreadsheet… Pitch someone somewhere? Make a note of it so you can circle back and see if they’ve filled that position later on…

Bottom line: Freelance writing is a business. Treat it as one.
