Printapalooza – Dark Testament

Welcome to a very special edition of Sketchapalooza, featuring some of my work from a printmaking class I took in college. More specifically, my final project- The Dark Testament

#1 part two

The flames were a reduction plate but the figure is a standard relief plate. I also used it to emboss the last page (see below)

#2 part three

The flayed face was done in the standard etching technique. Okay, I did it on an acrylic plate but that is pretty common now. I was deeply into plate tone at the time I did this. You can tell, can't you?

    • Sometimes I still simulate plate tone in the work I do today. The love of plate tone will never leave me, even if I never do another print again…

and here is that embossed figure I was telling you about

#4 covers

The cover plates measure 14" x 21"  (36 x 54cm) and were cut from steel- they're pretty heavy. There are only three editions in existence- I have two and the other belongs to a private collector
