As an artist, I like to keep a nature journal with me when I take walks in the park or go on camping trips. You never know what interesting bug or moss or wild flower you may find. When I came upon this mushroom several things struck me. One was the interesting marking it had. Like little moles or growths, they were. Also it seemed to have a “bite” taken out of it. I wondered who bit it. Was it a bug or a bird? Was it a poisonous mushroom or a good tasting one? So I took it and drew it in my nature journal along with a description of where I found it. I then painted over the drawing with watercolor. Okay, I’m no John Muir or famous naturalist, but my nature journal has come in handy with my own paintings later, as seen in my “Walk In The Woods With Tiffany” painting.
What do you think?
I really like it. Im always telling people in the art class to take a visual diary where ever they go.
Yes. You can use me as a reference for that, if you like. I tell my students that also and then show them pieces I painted using that nature journal. Thanks for commenting.
