I noticed

The tie was loose

Not off or crooked

Just loose

And the top button

Not buttoned

The smile was

What drew me forward

Do you know?

I wondered if

In fact, they did know

That they understood

or at least

knew the question

clutching the flower

the stem now ruined

each color

bleeding to the ground

I leaned back

There were no answers here

No ending of moments

No last thoughts

Just the loose tie

The Windsor knot, not a knot but

A loose configuration

A moment

A pause

And the tears were real.
